Col (Retd) Rahim says decision to impose emergency was Musharraf’s 

 

According to the last witness who was presented by the prosecution in the judges detention case against former president General (retd) Pervez Musharraf on Monday made claim that the imposition of emergency in 2007 was the decision of the former president.

 

On Monday the ATC had resumed hearing of the high profile case. During the proceedings the witness of the prosecution Colonel (retd) Inamur Rehman had recorded his statement.

According to the retired colonel, who had been serving as a lieutenant colonel when the emergency had been imposed said Musharraf “misused his uniform in imposing emergency in the country on November 3, 2007, and hence caused damage to the credibility of the armed forces.”

According to the first information report (FIR) registered against the former president General (retd) Pervez Musharraf on August 11, 2009 by the Secretariat Police, he is facing terrorism charges in the case for detaining over 60 judges.

According to the charge sheet, the former president had imposed a state of emergency and detained the judges. The former military dictator was indicted in the case in June.
