JIT findings will be challenged by the PM in case of adverse outcome

After a detailed brainstorming session with his political and legal aides on the conduct of the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has decided that he will challenge the findings of the probe body in both legal and political arenas.

During a advice-giving meeting of the ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) which was held under the chair of the prime minister, the legal and political implications of the JIT were discussed. The JIT would likely be submitting its findings to the apex court on July 10th.

Zahid Hamid the Federal Minister for Law had briefed the participants on the possible findings of the JIT along with the legal position which the party could take especially if the findings would come against the prime minister and his family members.

The party sources in the meeting have informed that in case of some negative report against the prime minister, the legal team of the prime minister will challenge the results and it and could even pray for constitution of a larger bench to hear their concerns and objections on the conduct of the JIT.

Furthermore it was said that the PML-N will try to drag the matter towards a legal battle, it would not only point out the flaws in the report but also challenge the very basis of the constitution of the JIT, which according to some legal experts was contrary to the prevalent legal system.

It was also decided that on the political front the matter would be taken to the people’s court by the party nd would exhibit street power to keep popular support intact.

In this regard, work had already been started with the party leaders already starting questioning the conduct of the JIT and its biased treatment of the prime minister and his family members.

Party sources have further informed that if the JIT comes up with some negative findings and suggestions against the Sharif family, the Party would challenge it in the court and a political campaign will also be launched in this connection the party would hold large public gatherings in the length and breadth of the country to show their popular support.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif along with most of the frontline party leaders have already started grilling the JIT they have started equating it proceedings as an attempt to derail the political dispensation along with creating hurdles in the way of economic progress.

On Friday, 7th July 2017, the prime minister during his address had said that he will be inaugurating the Dhasu Dam project, when the JIT would be filing its report to the apex court, which would help ease the power demand in the country.
