Miss Earth Beauty Contest Kicked Off In Manila: Miss Earth is the youngest of the well-known beauty contests. It sets itself apart from the rest in that all of the participants present international environmental projects.

The 18th iteration of the Miss Earth international beauty contest kicked off on  Oct 11th with the presentation to media of the 90 candidates at the Manila Diamond Hotel.

The presentation of the Miss Earth 2018 candidates was hosted by reigning Miss Earth 2017 Karen Ibasco and Miss Air Philippines 2018 Zahrah Bianca Saldua.

The #Miss Earth contest has been held since 2001 and has established a tradition of promoting responsible attitudes toward the environment. It is one of the four largest beauty contests in the world, along with Miss Universe, Miss World and Miss International. The reigning beauty queen is Karen Ibasko from the Philippines.

Daria Kartyshova will represent Russia at the beauty contest Miss Earth 2018, which will take place this fall in the Philippines. The 2018 Miss Earth International contest is scheduled to take place in the Philippines on November 3rd and BN Beauty will be bringing you all the scoop.

Nigeria’s rep, Maristella, who is a model, dental technologist and a licensed cabin crew recently left for Manila, Philippines to be pre-groomed by the Kagandahang Flores (KF) experts before the commencement of the camp which is to start on October 7th, 2018.

Miss Earth 2015 Angelia Ong was also present at the event to encourage everyone’s participation in the Conservation of Ocean Resources and Aquatic Life (CORAL) movement.

“We made it our mission and our passion to save the Philippine seas so please let’s not take it for granted,” she said. Ong also mentioned how residents of Camiguin Island, Carabao Island and Sta. Cruz, Marinduque have created glass jewelry from soda and beer bottles that have littered the beaches.

“This is not recycling, but really upscaling. Sabi nila merong pera sa basura pero meron ding kayamanan sa basura,” the Miss Earth 2015 added. “We always have to find something to make something better or useful and more beautiful.” In the upcoming Miss Earth 2018, the Philippines will be represented by 20-year-old model Celeste Cortesi.
