North Korea fired a missile into Japanese waters, says US

US military officials have said that an intermediate ranged missile in the direction of Japan has been fired by North Korea.
The US Pacific command said that the missile which was land-based had been fired from near Panghyon airfield, the missile flew for 37 minutes before landing in the Sea of Japan.
PM Shinzo while talking about the launch and lodging a protest said that “clearly shows that the threat has grown.”
N Korea in the recent months has recently increased the frequency of its nuclear and missile tests, which has raised tensions.
According to South Korea which said that the Tuesday’s projectile was launched at 09:40 local time (00:40 GMT) and flew about 930km (578 miles).
According to the Japanese officials, the missile may have landed in waters which are claimed by Japan as its exclusive economic zone.
According to the US, the missile did not pose a threat to North America.
According to a South Korean news agency Pyongyang is due to make an “important announcement” later on Tuesday.
According to reports this is the 11th detected missile launch this year.
In May 2017, North Korea last test-launched missiles. Projectiles had been fired twice by the North Korea, both times at the sea of Japan.
Despite the progress made by Pyongyang, experts have held believe that North Korea does not have the capability to accurately target a place with an intercontinental ballistic missile or miniaturise a nuclear warhead that can fit on such a missile.
On Tuesday, 4th July 2017, Yoshihide Suga Japan’s Chief Cabinet Secretary had told reporters: “North Korea’s repeated provocations like this are absolutely unacceptable.”
Mr Abe came out and said that Japan would “unite strongly” with the US and South Korea to put pressure on Pyongyang.
Mr Abe further added that he would call on Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin who are meeting in Moscow “to play a more constructive role.”
The President of the US Donald Trump also responded swiftly on Tuesday, to the missile launch.
Through his twitter account the President made apparent reference to North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, saying: “Does this guy have anything better to do with his life?Hard to believe that South Korea and Japan will put up with this much longer. Perhaps China will put a heavy move on North Korea and end this nonsense once and for all!”” Earlier President Trump had called Mr Kim a “pretty smart cookie.”
With Beijing being Pyongyang’s closest ally, repeated calls by President Trump have also been made who has called on Mr Xi to pressure North Korea to end its nuclear and missile programs.
The latest missile launch have come a day after President Trump had spoken on the phone separately with Mr Xi and Mr Abe about North Korea. Commitment for a denuclearized Korean Peninsula were reaffirmed by the leaders.
