Panama\u2019s ex strongmen Manuel Noriega dies at 83:\u00a0Manuel Noriega had recently undergone an operation after he had suffered a haemorrhage which was followed by a brain surgery.<\/p>\n

Noriega was a key US ally but had been forcibly removed by the American troops, when they invaded Panama in 1989. Noriega was later jailed in the US on drugs and laundering charges.<\/p>\n

Noriega had later spent the rest of his life in custody, latterly in Panama for murder, corruption and embezzlement.<\/p>\n

However the former leader had been released into house arrest in January in order to prepare for an operation in early March in order to remove a brain tumour.<\/p>\n

Secretary of State for Communication Manuel Dominguez announced that, the former strongment underwent further surgery after cerebral bleeding but later on, on Monday 29^{th<\/sup>, May, 2017, died at Panama City’s Santo Tomas hospital.<\/p>\n}

The President of Panama Juan Carlos Varela tweeted:”The death of Manuel A Noriega closes a chapter in our history; his daughters and relatives deserve a funeral in peace.<\/em>”<\/p>\n
