Opposition of Cambodia puts out banners calling for leaders release<\/h3>\n

The main opposition party of Cambodia on Monday has put up banners all over the country, the banners call for the release of its detained leader Kem Sokha. What is being considered as a challenge to the government of Prime Minister Hun Sen which had accused him of treason.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

On September 3rd Kem Sokha, the leader of the Cambodia National Rescue Party (CNRP) had been arrested and charged with plotting against the state.<\/p>\n

Western countries and human rights groups have condemned the arrest and said it raises severe doubt over whether next year\u2019s general election can be fair. In the ballot, Hun Sen could face his greatest electoral test of more than three decades in power.<\/p>\n

The party\u2019s banners, which have a picture of Kem Sokha waving from a vehicle during the last election campaign in 2013, called for the leader\u2019s \u201cimmediate and unconditional release.\u201d<\/p>\n
