Mardan lynching: CM Khattak signs summary asking PHC to form commission: HumSub.TV:\u00a0Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Pervaiz Khattak signed a summary asking Peshawar High Court (PHC) to form a judicial commission to investigate the lynching of Mashal Khan, an Abdul Wali Khan University student.
\nThe summary has been sent to Peshawar High Court Chief Justice Yahya Afridi for the formation of the commission to probe the incident.
\nThe chief minister had announced that a judicial inquiry will be conducted into the lynching incident.
\nHundreds of students beat to death a classmate known for his liberal views on a university campus for alleged blasphemy in the country\u2019s conservative northwest Thursday, police and witnesses said.
\nMashal Khan, a journalism student, was stripped, beaten, shot, and thrown from the second floor of his hostel at the Abdul Wali Khan university in Mardan, sources at the university said.
\nGraphic video footage from the scene shows dozens of men outside the hostel kicking and hurling projectiles at a body sprawled on the ground.
\nThe killing comes as Pakistani authorities including Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan have been increasingly vocal over blasphemy in recent weeks.
\nBlasphemy is a hugely sensitive charge in the conservative Muslim country, and can carry the death penalty. Even unproven allegations can cause mob lynchings and violence.<\/p>\n
