Durby Hosting Biggest Chocolate Sculpture Festival

: Durbuy, with a population of around 10,000, cheerfully stood as “the smallest city in the world”, and attracts tourists from nearby Brussels and Luxembourg. The ChocoPalace festival started in the small city, southeast of Brussels to celebrate the event of Easter. PLG, the advertising group that has organized the festival.

When you enter in the area it is like a chocoholic’s dreamland where you can see giant sculptures of elephanst and flamingos all made from Belgian chocolate. The animal creations are up to 3 meters tall and are the centerpiece of an exhibition in Belgium of around 50 chocolate pieces by 40 international artists.

  • The ChocoPalace festival also features, tall building, historic characters and a chocolate river and stalls selling macaroons and boozy chocolate drinks.
  • The festival has already attracted more than 30,000 visitors and is set to draw in plenty more over the Easter holidays until it closes on April 8.

“The idea was to bring the biggest chocolate sculpture festival in the world to the smallest city in the world,” said Laura Trommelen, from PLG, the advertising group that has organized the festival.

Chocolate MELT Festival Newzealand

In another Easter festive families are offered with variety of chocolates at Rotorua, Newzealand Melt chocolate festival. The MELT Festival of Chocolate starts with The Hits Cocoa Carnival on Good Friday with a chocolate-themed street parade starting at the Arts Village at 5pm. The parade will wind along Rotorua’s cycleway, led by the Amjazz dancers and The Hits team.

Everyone is welcome to join in the parade and can enter the fancy dress competition with chocolate prizes up for grabs.

The chocolate festival also has a ticketed area in Kuirau Park Melt Central with chocolate themed food sellers, celebrity chefs and chocolate products. It also has kids play area, entertainment and various activities each day.

For the ultimate chocolate indulgence, there is a giant chocolate fondue breakfast on Easter Monday under a marquee in Kuirau Park.
