First Science And Technology Park Of PakistanThe first Science, Technology and Innovation Park of Pakistan will become functional by December 5, this year at PCSIR Lahore which will help industrial sector to switch over to knowledge based economy with a multi-dimensional chain of value addition.

This was stated by Chairman Pakistan Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (PCSIR), Dr. Shahzad Alam while addressing a meeting in Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FCCI), on Saturday.

He said that another proposal was under consideration to set up a dedicated Science and Technology Park for Textile in Faisalabad.

He said that a comprehensive system called echo system provide back up support to the industrial growth of any country.

“It provides innovative ideas in addition to upgrade technology and value addition in existing as well as new industrial units”, he added.

The PCSIR chairman said that Prime Minister Imran Khan had been briefed about the project which would be funded through our own financial resources.

“We have started work on it which is expected to be completed within 56 days”, he said.

He said the idea of Science and Technology Park had been taken from Chinese model, which had entirely changed the face of Chinese economy and it had been transformed into a new, dynamic and vibrant economy of the world.

He said that now China had given vision 2050 which aimed to make China as a global leader of innovation.

About Science, Technology and Innovation Park, he said that initially 15 to 20 industries would be provided space and facilities in the park while, in later phase, more industries could also be accommodated in it.

He said that PCSIR had a globally accredited lab which had facility to conduct 472 sophisticated tests.

Similarly, 2000 students also avail our facilities to complete their PhDs, he added.

Earlier, in his address of welcome, FCCI president Syed Zia Alamdar Hussain said that Pakistan lacked research which was an imperative to compete with the global rivals.

He said that Pakistan was an agriculture country and we could resolve our most economic issues by improving this sector and adding value in it. Later, FCCI president presented FCCI shield to Dr. Shahzad Alam Chairman PCSIR.
