Kim Kardashian Met Trump To Discuss Prison Reform:
Kim Kardashian West, the reality television star and gossip column favorite, met with President Donald Trump to discuss a pardon for Alabama prisoner Alice Marie Johnson.
According to a report from Vanity Fair, West and her personal attorney will visit the White House on Wednesday before 4 p.m. to meet with Senior Advisor Jared Kushner and then with President Donald Trump to discuss prison reform. West intends to ask Trump to pardon a 62-year-old woman who is serving a life sentence after being convicted of a first-time drug offense in 1996.

Alice Johnson was convicted by a jury in the Western District of Tennessee of eight charges of selling controlled substances, court records show. She was sentenced to life without parole and currently resides in Alabama’s Aliceville Federal Correctional Institution.
According to Vanity Fair, West learned of Johnson’s story on Twitter earlier this year. She reached out to Ivanka Trump, and was connected to Kushner. Since his time in the White House, Kushner has also focused on prison reform. His father, Charles Kushner, spent more than a year in a federal prison camp in Alabama on charges of tax evasion, illegal campaign contributions, and witness tampering, the magazine reported.

In an interview with Mic, West said what she would tell Trump about Johnson. “I would explain to him that, just like everybody else, we can make choices in our lives that we’re not proud of and that we don’t think through all the way,” she said.
Johnson’s case gained national attention in 2017, when Mic published a video of Johnson talking about her case and her life behind bars from inside the prison. “It’s like an unexecuted sentence of death,” the great-grandmother said. “Out of desperation, I made one of the worst decisions of my life to make some quick money.”
