Mario Lopez and Sheryl Underwood Hosted 45th Daytime Emmy Awards: The 45th annual Daytime Emmy Awards were held at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium, California, this week and were hosted by Mario Lopez (Extra) and Sheryl Underwood (The Talk).

The ceremony was lighter on the social and political front as it stuck to celebrating daytime television.

Top winner of the evening was “Days of our lives” that took five trophies. The Real talk show host won as outstanding entertainment show host.

Days of Our Lives emerged as the top winner of the evening, bagging five trophies. Dr. Oz won informative show for a second year in a rwo.

During the ceremony, Days of Our Lives veterans and real-life husband and wife, Bill Hayes and Susan Seaforth Hayes were given the Lifetime Achievement Award.

Joely Fisher sang an In Memoriam tribute to the talent that were lost in the past year including Della Reese, Monty Hall, Rose Marie, Jim Nabors, among others.

Lopez, who co-hosted the ceremony with Underwood, said that it was “not a show about politics.” Even so, there was the occasional mention of the #MeToo and Time’s Up movements and even Gloria Allred mentioned Bill Cosby’s guilty verdict when she came out on stage to present award of Outstanding Legal/Courtroom Program to Judge Mathis.

The awards show also celebrated its 45th anniversary with several packages looking back at ceremonies and honorees past with vintage clips.

Mario Lopez and Sheryl Underwood hosted the night by bringing out Peter Marshall, the original Hollywood Squares host, who also hosted the first-ever Daytime Emmys in 1974.

Other segments celebrated 35 years of Wheel of Fortune, 55 years of General Hospital and the 50th anniversary of Mister Roger’s Neighborhood.
