Do Not Underestimated The Unity Of NATO Allies: Costs & Consequences For Russia

More than 23 countries globally kicked out 115 Russian diplomats over the attempted assassination of Russian double agent Skripal and his daughter Yulia with a nerve agent in the English city of Salisbury. The former Norwegian prime minister said that Russian diplomat’s expulsion is the result of its unacceptable and dangerous pattern of behavior and it is a clear message to Russia.

Theresa May UK premier has already stated the Skripals were poisoned with the Soviet developed nerve agent “Novichok”, however Russia has denied involvement. She also has said that UK will not tolerate Russian attempts to break international law, undermine UK values or threaten any country’s security.

NATO stance is that the Russian networks pose great threat to the security of their allies countries and their pattern of aggression that had affected every country. However, EU countries including Austria, Portugal, Greece and Malta, have declined to take any steps.

NATO has planned to continue its dual-track approach of “strong defence and openness to dialogue” with Russia and does not want another Cold war to begin.

Russian Response To Poisoning

Russian Foreign Minister accused Washington of applying “colossal pressure” to achieve the massive, coordinated international response to the poisoning.

  • Moscow would respond severely to the dismissal of over 100 Russian diplomats worldwide.
