5 People Injured In London Blast: At least five people sustained minor injuries after an explosion at an underground station in north London on Tuesday.

According to media reports, three injured of the minor blast at Southgate were treated at the scene two others were taken to hospital as no one was seriously hurt in the incident.

The explosion followed reports of a suspicious package at the station, but Scotland Yard was reported to have said that the incident was not believed to be terror-related.

“The scene has been examined by specialist officers. It appears at this stage that the cause of the explosion was a battery short circuit,” said media report, citing police spokesman.

Meanwhile emergency services were immediately rushed to the scene, including a number of ambulance crews, hazardous area response team and other incident response officers.

A SMALL EXPLOSION at a London Underground station this evening left a few people with minor injuries, but officials said the incident did not seem to be related to terrorism.

Police said they were not aware of any serious injuries in what the force called a “minor explosion” at Southgate tube station in northwest London.

In a statement this evening, the Met Police said the scene had been examined by specialist officers.

“It appears at this stage that the cause of the explosion was a battery short circuit. The Met Police and British Transport Police are working together to establish the full facts,” a spokesman said.

Officers said the Southgate Tube station was closed while they investigated a suspicious package. Cordons were put in place and the public was asked to keep away.

The Met said officers remained on the scene and were investigating. Transport police added a “small number” of people were treated at the scene. The nature of the injuries was not immediately clear. There were no immediate reports of anyone needing hospital treatment.

Police responded after people ran from the station and said there had been an explosion. They said no cause has yet been established.
