Afghanistan : Khost bombing leaves 13 dead: According to the information ministry the dead includes children. The target of the attack was police vehicles in the centre of Khost. However thus far no group has claimed the responsibility. However Taliban and the group known as Islamic State are considered as the main suspects.

The Talibaan have surged the violence in several parts of Afghanistan and much of the violence involve the Taliban.

Earlier on Friday 26th, May, 2017, at least 15 soldiers were killed when the Taliban attacked on a military base in Kandahar province.

This attack marks the first attack to take place as the country marked the first day of Ramadan, a month of prayer and fasting for Muslims.

According to officials the bomb was detonated near a military base. According to ministry spokesman Najid Danish a public bus had bore most of the force of the blast which targeted Afghan security forces working with American troops in Khost province, the minister further added that “The bodies are not recognisable and it is hard to say if they are civilians or security forces.

The current surge of violence is a challenge for Nato-backed Afghan forces as it raises further concerns about their ability to see off the militant threat.

During these attacks both the military and security forces have sustained unprecedented casualties recently in addition to a high level of desertions and numerous corruption scandals.
