Donate Good Friday Earnings & Easter Meals to Charity Helping The Families In Need: Good Friday is observed around the world on the Friday before Easter Sunday. Smithfield Foods, Inc., and Food Lion USA have partnered for the second annual Easter Eats donation, a Food Lion Feeds initiative to provide Easter meals to families facing hunger. Smithfield and Food Lion delivered a total of 300 Easter meal bags each containing assortment of sweet potatoes, green beans, corn, cornbread stuffing, carrots, brown gravy mix, and more. Easter Eats donation events took place in Kearneysville, West Virginia, where Smithfield and Food Lion delivered 150 meal bags to the local community during a mobile donation event at Leetown Baptist Church community facility.
Volunteers from each of the participating food banks assisted with the preparation, packaging, and distribution of the donations.
Pubs and restaurants remains open and the historic day of the Good Friday is marked by donating all their proceeds on Friday to charity. Slattery’s pub in Beggars Bush Ireland on the south side, is donating the total amount to Lady’s Hospice Care in Harold’s Cross and Blackrock, and the local 4th Port Dodder Sea Scout Group.
Students from Great Oaks Elementary School Australia recently donated over two tons of nonperishable food for the Round Rock Area Serving Center. This food will assist families in need.
In another event at Melbourne, fundraising event for the Royal Children’s Hospital (Good Friday Appeal has raised a total of $327 million for the Royal Children’s Hospital in previous years) will take place today at the Melbourne Convention Centre. The site will host the Good Friday Appeal Super Show, with a line-up of Australian entertainers to take the stage and encourage Victorians to give. Hundreds more fundraisers are taking place across the state, including sausage sizzles, fishing competitions and car shows.
