The Villa Les Cedres library contains about 3,000 books on flora and naturalism, including a 17th century botanical book said to be worth several hundred thousand dollars, which explored the decadent domicile. You will have to pay extra for that, as well as for the carpets, paintings and furniture contained in the home.

Les Cèdres was bought in 1850 by the mayor of Villefranche Sur Mer, when it operated as an olive tree farm. (There are olive trees more than 300 years old on the grounds.) The Mayor’s children sold the property to the Belgian King Leopold II in 1904, who, made tremendously rich by his exploitation of mineral resources and rubber trees in the Congo Free State (now the Democratic Republic of Congo), expanded the gardens that still surround the home.

As per media sources, the current owner Suzanne Marnier-Lapostolle, a member of the Grand Marnier family, is looking for something smaller. The house has been in the family, famous for cognacs and liqueurs, since the 1920s.

The house is a combination of history, luxury, and a prime location along the coast of Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat will be enough to make it the most expensive residential sale in history.

Will It Get the Price?

As per market expert analysis, Russian oligarchs, who have until recently been on a buying binge in the area have assessed value may be alot. If it gets sold on the demanded price it will be the world’s most expensive home crossing “Clampett estate in Bel-Air, California”, which listed in August for US$350 million.

The 2nd most expensive home in Greece comes with 3 private beaches, one of which is perfect for parking a yacht.
