Iran to boost its missile capabilities, defies Trump

President Hassan Rouhani on Friday while rejecting demands from U.S President Donald Trump said that Iran will strengthen its missile capabilities and not seek any country’s permission.

Rouhani was speaking at a military parade where an Iranian news agency had said that one of the weapons on display had been a new ballistic missile with the range of 2,000 km (1,200 miles) and that it was capable of carrying several warheads.

Very few details about the missile were given by the Tasnim news agency, which had quoted the head of the Revolutionary Guards’ aerospace division, Amirali Hajizadeh.

The Iranian state television had showed the footage of the firing of “Khoramshahr missile” however it had not specified if the test-fire had happened on Friday or in the past.

At the U.N. General Assembly on Tuesday, Trump said Iran was building its missile capability and accused it exporting violence to Yemen, Syria and other parts of the Middle East.

He also criticized the 2015 pact that the United States and six other powers struck with Iran under which Tehran agreed to restrict its nuclear program in return for relief from economic sanctions
