ISIS kidnap Iraqi toddler called Messi: A three-year-old boy was kidnapped by Islamic State and held for two years after his father named him after his football hero Lionel Messi.
The child, now five, was kidnapped in 2014 by jihadis from family home in Sinjar, north Iraq.
During two torturous years, Isis extremists taunted the boy’s family with ransom demands – even though they were not wealthy.
Thankfully, Messi has now been rescued and is living at a refugee centre in Dohuk, in Iraqi Kurdistan.
Although now safe, his two years of being a hostage have taken its toll. The boy barely speaks and shakes his head when people call him Messi.
Infidels forced Messi’s mother to change him name to Hassan, his father told Kurdistan 24.
In 2014 when Messi and his family were taken, thousands of Yazidi women and children were captured and enslaved when Isis attacked Sinjar.
It’s believed 3,000 have been rescued, though many remain at the mercy of the terror group.
Last year Lionel Messi met six-year-old Murtaza Ahmadi, who was pictured wearing a carrier bag fashioned into a Messi football shirt.
The Afghan boy met his footballer hero in Doha, Qatar, in December. Messi gave him a real signed shirt.
