It has been assumed and widely propagated that Islamic laws don’t protect women. In fact, the common perception is that Islamic law actually goes against the betterment of women. This is simply not true! And in this article we see why!

Leading the World with Women’s Rights

Islamic Law has literally and figuratively led the world with the introduction of women’s rights at a time where they were treated as mere animals. This might sound absurd today, but women were used and abused, given no respect, and baby girls were subjected to horrifying deaths by burying them alive. At this point in our dark history, Islam torched a flame to introduce the alien concept that women are humans, and are equally deserving of love and respect.

  1. Basic Rights

Believe it or not, Islam was the first religion to include females in the rights of inheritance. Until the 18th century, women in Europe as well as America could not own or manage property.

  1. Female Infanticide

One of the most inhumane and terrifying practices from that dark time was burying new born baby girls alive. Shariah Law banished this practice and prohibited it in the strongest of words.

  1. Quranic teachings for Learning and Work

Contrary to popular belief, Islam doesn’t seek to enshrine women within the four walls of the house. Verses of the Quran revealed early on, commands both women and men to seek knowledge, and there are many examples of women presenting strong leader roles and managing business in the time of the Holy Prophet.

  1. Feminism

The Holy Prophet was a feminist of his time, helping his wives with their routine work, giving them utmost respect and dignity.

  1. Equal Duties

All duties of Islam such as offering prayers, performing the Holy Pilgrimage, glorifying Allah and such make no distinction between men or women.
