Tony Awards Will Be Hosted By Sara Bareilles & Josh Groban: Sara Bareilles known for her singing love hymns in Jesus Christ Live Superstar, the icon will be hosting 2018 Tony Awards alongside Josh Groban. Sara was nominated for a Tony Award in 2016 for Best Original Song for Waitress for which she also penned the music and lyrics sang alongside John Legend as Mary in NBC’s Jesus Christ Superstar Live recently.

Josh Groban was nominated in 2017 for Best Performance by a Leading Actor in a Musical for his starring role in Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812. Groban received critical praise for his lead role in the War and Peace.  His eighth studio album is expected to drop later this year.

Tony Awards will be aired live from Radio City Music Hall on the 10th of June at 8 p.m. on CBS in NewYork while the Tony Awards nominations will be announced live on May 1st by Smash vets current Waitress star Katharine McPhee and Leslie Odom, Jr.

Earlier Tony Awards were hosted by Kevin Spacey (2017), James Corden (2016), Kristin Chenoweth and Alan Cumming (2015), Hugh Jackman (2014) Neil Patrick Harris (2011–2013) and Sean Hayes (2010).

Bareilles said in a statement “The Theater has completely transformed my life in every way possible”. She said that she has never felt more embraced and encouraged by a professional community, and she is so grateful for that.

Groban added: “I look forward to flailing about in front of my peers. It will be with all the love and respect in the world for the room we’re lucky enough to be in.”

The Antoinette Perry Award for Excellence in Broadway Theater, more commonly known as the Tony Award, recognizes excellence in live Broadway theater. The awards are presented by the American Theater Wing and The Broadway League at an annual ceremony in New York City.

The award is named after Antoinette Perry, nicknamed Tony, an actress, director, producer and co-founder of the American Theatre Wing, who died in 1946.

Tony-nominated Broadway debuts, Sara Bareilles and Josh Groban will host the 72nd Annual Tony Awards this year in June. Both are first-time Tony hosts who made their Broadway bows in 2017.
