22 dead and 59 hurt in blast at Manchester Arena: A blast has rocked the Manchester Arena at 22:35 BST during a pop concert by US singer Ariana Grande.

Prime Minister Theresa May expressed her thoughts for the incident and said that her thoughts were with those affected; she said the police are treating the incident as a “terrorist attack.” Mrs May further added “We are working to establish the full details” of what happened in Manchester. All our thoughts are with the victims and the families of those who have been affected”

After the blast the PM Theresa May has suspended the Conservative Party general election campaigning and will chair a meeting of the government’s emergency Cobra Committee, in response to the attack.

Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn at this moment tweeted: “Terrible incident in Manchester. My thoughts are with all those affected and our brilliant emergency services.

Andy Burnham the Mayor of Greater Manchester metro said: “My heart goes out to families who have lost loved ones, my admiration to our brave emergency services. A terrible night for our great city.

According to the unconfirmed reports put forward by two unnamed US officials suggested the attack was carried out by a suicide bomber.

According to the British Transport Police, the explosion was in the arena’s foyer, which was used to connect with Victoria train and tram station. It is a major hub on the northern edge of the city center.

After the blast the station was closed and all the trains were cancelled. Later on the Greater Manchester Police carried out precautionary controlled explosion at the Cathedral Garden area of the city. Shortly after the force confirmed that it was not a suspicious item.

Talking to the media the paramedics said that the wounded had shrapnel like wounds. Furthermore the ambulance service said it had taken 59 casualties from the explosion to hospitals and treated a number of walking wounded.
