Ghani said that the Afghan government will provide facilities and security for those Taliban who join the peace process. He declared, “We will consider the Taliban’s view in the peace talks as it is important to establish peace”. More than 20 countries and international organizations are participating in the Kabul Peace Conference. It is vital for the people of Afghanistan for the establishment of peace in the country.

The development arrived less than 48 hours after the Taliban called for direct talks with the United States of America to find a peaceful solution regarding the conflict in Afghanistan. Earlier Taliban considered the government in Afghanistan as a tool in the hands of US officials in Washington.

A resurgent of Talibans has been blamed for much of the increased violence in Afghanistan since United States and NATO forces concluded combat missions in 2014. The attacks have underscored the weaknesses of Afghan security forces. Ashraf Ghani’s invitation followed this background. He tweeted, “I will present detailed peace offer to Taliban and Pakistan on behalf of the Afghan people. We wish to march toward a lasting peace in Afghanistan and in the region!”

The success of Kabul Peace Conference is also crucial for Pakistan as peace in Afghanistan is in the best interest of the whole region. The conference in Kabul is also important for the relations between India and Pakistan and will be a major breakthrough in improving the relations between the two countries. The peace talks process was earlier suspended due to Indian irresponsible attitude. Even though an official one-to-one meeting between the foreign secretaries of both countries has still not been confirmed by either of the countries.
