China Extends Cooperation To Pakistan In Aviation Sector

China Extends Cooperation To Pakistan In Aviation Sector: For the betterment of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) and the aviation division, Pakistan has agreed with China to enhance their co-operation in different areas particularly in aviation sector.

Advisor to Prime Minister on Aviation Sardar Mehtab Ahmad Khan and Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Yao Jin discussed matters of mutual cooperation in multiple sectors especially related to aviation. In a meeting they decided to boost cooperation for the advancement of airport projects and improvement of air travel facilities. Due to the fact that there is phenomenal growth of business opportunities between Pakistan and China are taking place, both the countries aim to share their technical expertise. This technical cooperation would be in the field of aviation that will include air craft maintenance, engineering services to the airlines present in both countries.

Improvement in weather forecasting system also came under discussion. Aviation minister Sardar Mehtab Ahmed khan appreciated Chinese cooperation for the construction and development of Gwadar airport under the project of CPEC. Construction of New Gwadar International Airport (NGIA), along with connected facilities for new airport will be capable of handling a combination of ATR 72, Airbus, (A-300), Boeing (B-737) and Boeing (B-747) for domestic as well international routes.

Pakistan expects Gwadar to become a regional economic hub and, for this, special importance is being given for the development of New Gwadar International Airport, the sources said. Pakistan has also handed hundreds of acres of land over to China for development of a special economic zone in the port of Gwadar, part of a $46 billion project giving Beijing greater access to the Middle East, Africa and Europe. The provincical government has given about 2,300 acres track of tax-exempt land that Beijing will develop under a 43-year lease.

To further strengthen ties officials of both the countries agreed to collaborate for the sustainability of aviation sector in different projects of PIA including IT, and engineering setup, latest radar system.
