Donate A Car To The Charity: News From Brooklyn: Recently a woman in Brooklyn, Lindsay Cohen wanted to donate her car to charity and was looking forward to change her vehicle. Lindsay bought her first black Volks Wagon car 6 years ago and has been driving it to her parents’ home, college and beyond. On the suggestion of her relative she decided to donate her car and for that she called J.V.Towing Company. They told her that her car would be donated to Charity “Kars 4 Kids”. Lindsey while cancelling her car insurance, suspending her car registration, did all paper work to make sure that her car is donated under all official obligations. But to her dismay she started getting loads of past due violations.
Lindsay shared that after few months she started getting notices of fee parking fines for tickets on her donated car. Lindsay shared that the fines and the fees add up to about $1,000. So she consulted Suffolk court to fight it and found out what was happening.
It was later then found under Suffolk County criminal investigation findings that J V Towing did not donate Lindsay’s car to “Kars 4 Kids”. Instead they put it up for sale and parked it in a strip mall, a busy intersection in Smithtown. There the car kept on getting tickets for parking the car on highway, marketing it for the purpose of selling, improper registration plates and invalid inspection sticker.
As a result to end this conflict Suffolk County transferred her tickets to J.V.Towing. While “Kars 4 Kids” told media sources that they never received the car donated to them and have never done business with J V Towing.
J V Towing while defending them said that they transferred the tickets out of the customer’s name as a courtesy and they intend to fight the fines.
