Export of Surgical Goods Reduced by 4.71 percent

Export of Surgical Goods Reduced by 4.71 percent: Surgical goods and medical instruments worth $58.585 million were exported from the country during the first two months of the current financial year as compared the exports of $61.786 million in the corresponding period of last year.

The exports of surgical goods and medical instruments reduced by 4.71 per cent in July-August 2018, as compared to the exports in the same period of last year, said the data of Pakistan Bureau of Statistics.

Meanwhile, the exports of cutlery were recorded at $13.912 million as against the exports of 15.718 million in the same period of last year, whereas chemicals and pharmaceutical products worth $180.796 million was exported as against $189.010 million in the same period of last year.

The exports of fertilizers during the first two months registered zero growth as no quantity of the fertilizers were exported. However, the exports of plastic materials grew by 38.98 per cent as 41,760 metric tonnes of the plastic materials worth $55.227 million were exported as compared the exports of 41,021 metric tonnes valuing $39.770 million in the same period last year.

In the first two months, the country earned $33.402 million by exporting about 1,333 metric tonnes of pharmaceutical products as compared to $37.577 million in the same period last year.

Pakistan and Kazakhstan have great potential to enhance cooperation in many fields and if both countries facilitate their private sectors, the annual bilateral trade volume could be increased from current below US$ 25 million to US$ 250-500 million.

Barlybay Sadykov, Ambassador Kazakhstan while exchanging views with Ahmed Hassan Moughal, President, Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry during his visit to Chamber House.

Sadykov said that many Pakistani products including fruits and vegetables, pharmaceuticals, surgical instruments, leather goods have great potential in Kazakhstan and Pakistani exporters should step up efforts to enhance exports of these products to Kazakh market.
