Gas Production Falls Due To Turbine Issues In Qadirpur Gas Field
Gas Production Falls Due To Turbine Issues In Qadirpur Gas Field: Natural gas production has declined 5.8% to 3,828 million metric cubic feet/day (mmcfd) in March this year. The reason of dropping gas production is credited to two reasons
- Annual turnaround at Uch-II plant
- Turbine issues at Qadirpur gas fields
In February 2018, production from Uch field was 430 mmcfd which dropped to 288 mmfcd in March. Similarly, Qadirpur’s production levels also declined to 269 mmcfd in March from 301 mmcfd recorded in the February of the same year.
Gas Fall In Various Sectors
- Production From Sui Gas Fields fell 9.4% year on year to 399 mmcfd,
- Production from Hala block went 19% down to 53 mmcfd
- Production from Nashpa block decreased 23% to 81 mmcfd.
Natural gas output decreased 1.8% to 4,018 mmcfd from January to March quarter as compared to the last year.

Weak Oil Production From Nashpa, Mela & Makori Oil Fields
Oil production remained weak during the January-March quarter with overall average production clocking in at 92,329 bpd, down 1.7%. Weak oil production during the period can be attributed to weak production from key fields, such as Nashpa, Mela and Makori.
Sales of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) increased 25.7% year on year in March with monthly production of 2,226 tons/day owing to new finds.
Increased flow from Kunnar Pashaki Deep (KPD) fields resulted in the increase of LPG production. This post completion of KPD phase-II project added an incremental 410 tons/day of LPG production to the stream adding to 4,000 bpd of oil and 125 mmcfd of natural gas. In March, oil production stood at 91,231 barrels per day (bpd), up 0.4% from 90,913 bpd recorded in March 2017.
Protest Against Increased Gas bills
While in another event “Naan Bai” Welfare Association in Rawalpindi staged a protest demonstration outside the office of Sui Northern Gas Pipeline to express their anger over issuance of overstated gas bills to them by the company.

As per details, the tariff of gas consumed by them is very low; however, the Sui Northern Gas Pipeline company in the bill has also claimed LNG charges of Qatari Gas from the Naan Bai workers community. They have appealed Prime Minister shahid Khawan Abbasi, related Petroleum and Gas Minister, Chairman of SNGPL to take immediate notice of the increased Gas bills.
