President Trump to attend G7 summit in Sicily: It is expected that a tough debate on issues including trade and climate change will ensue.

The G7 comprises of countries such as Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the UK and the U along with these countries EU also have representatives.

Group’s leaders which include President Trump and British Prime Minister Theresa May will also be sitting around the table for the first time.

Recently, President Trump in his public speech had accused Nato leaders of not spending enough on defence. It is expected that President Trump will be just as robust to take on his G7 counterparts. It is said that there will be an agreement on the need to do more to tackle violent extremism; and a serious discussion with Japan’s prime minister about the threat from North Korea will also ensue.

The summit comes just days after the deadly Manchester bombing which claimed the lives of 22 people which included children. Due to the graphic event it is expected that Mrs May will urge the world leaders to do more in order to combat online extremism. It is expected that She will bring forward the point that the fight against so-called Islamic State is “moving from the battlefield to the internet.

The two-day G7 summit will kick off officially at 09:30 GMT in Sicily’s picturesque town of Taormina.

It is expected that issues such as climate change and trade will generate disagreements. President Trump will be urged not to withhold from US commitment on the 2015 Paris agreement to tackle global warming. At the same time, President Trump will resist moves to limit protectionism in global trade.
