Trumps Russian inquiry well founded says Ex-CIA chief Brennan

Trumps Russian inquiry well founded says Ex-CIA chief Brennan: John Brennan has told the House Intelligence Committee that he was aware of intelligence showing contact between Russian officials and “US persons involved in the Trump campaign.” According to Mr Brennan there was evidence that the Russians “brazenly interfered” in the US elections which were held last November, he said that the interference was “very aggressive.

However Mr Brennan added that he did not know if the Trump campaign intrigued with Moscow.

Mr Brennan, had stepped down as the director of CIA in January and had testified on Tuesday 23rd of May, 2017, he stated “I encountered and am aware of information and intelligence that revealed contacts and interactions between Russian officials and US persons involved in the Trump campaign that I was concerned about because of known Russian efforts to suborn such individuals, It raised questions in my mind whether or not Russia was able to gain the co-operation of those individuals.”

Mr Brennan’s evidence undermines President Donald Trump’s claim that the investigation is a “taxpayer funded charade.

Mr Brennan further added that he had left his office with many unanswered questions concerning about Russia’s influence over the election, however he added that the FBI’s probe was “was certainly well-founded and needed to look into these issues.” Furthermore Mr Brennan told lawmakers that he had warned his Russian counterpart the Federal Security Bureau chief Alexander Bortnikov during a phone call last August against meddling the US elections.

The former CIA director said that he told Mr Bortnikov that any attempt to interfere would “destroy any near-term prospect” of repairing the relations between Washington and Moscow.

The House inquiry concerns with two important aspects one claim being that Russian hackers had tried to tip the election in favour of President Trump, the other allegation concerns with investigating whether members of Trumps campaign had aided the alleged Kremlin conspiracy.

In a statement the White House has said that Mr Brennan’s testimony “backs up what we’ve been saying all along.” The administration further added “There is still no evidence of any Russia-Trump campaign collusion“.

The FBI is also conducting its own investigation on the issue.
