Police names Salman Abedi the bomber of Manchester attack: 22 year old Salman Abedi was born in Manchester to parents of Libyan descent. Out of 22 of his victims three have been named as Saffie Rose Roussos 8 years old, while Georgina Callander and John Atkinson both aged 28.

The alleged suicide bomber Salman Abedi who was a former Salford University student, is believed to have blown himself up in the arena’s foyer as the fans were beginning to leave the concert by US singer Ariana Grande shortly after 22:30 BST.

The Greater Manchester Police has said that the priority on the occasion was to establish facts whether Abedi was working alone or along with a group.

It is believed that Abedi, had lived under several addresses in Manchester. One of these addresses includes a property at Elsmore Road, Fallowfield, the property was raided by the police on Tuesday.

A 23 year old man in Chorlton, south Manchester in connection with the attack was also arrested by the police.

People present at the scene have described seeing metal nuts and bolts among the debris of Monday’s bomb, and spoke about the fear and confusion that gripped concert-goers.

MI5’s director general of the security service, Andrew Parker, has condemned the terrorist attack and said that the attack was “disgusting” he further added that the security service remained “relentlessly focused, in numerous current operations, on doing all we can to combat the scourge of terrorism and keep the country safe.

British Prime Minister Theresa May, through a statement in Downing Street on Tuesday 22nd, May, 2017, had said that the bombing had been a “callous terrorist attack” which had targeted “defenceless young people.” Prime Minister Theresa May, also visited a children’s hospital in Manchester. Throughout Monday night PM May had been updated and she had phoned Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn at 04:00 BST to brief him about the situation.

Greater Manchester Police Chief Constable Ian Hopkins said searches at two addresses had been carried out; the addresses included the one in Fallowfield. A controlled explosion at the address had been used to gain “safe” access. The police chief further added that the alleged suicide bomber Abedi had not been formally identified and so would not comment further.

Greater Manchester Police Chief Constable Ian Hopkins had passed on “heartfelt sympathies to all the innocent people caught up in last night’s despicable act” he further added that specially trained officers were helping the families.

A vigil for the dead and injured on Tuesday 23rd, May, 2017, was held in front of the town hall in Manchester’s Albert Square.

Home Secretary Amber Rudd, Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn and Commons Speaker John Bercow stood on stage alongside Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham and Greater Manchester Police Chief Constable Ian Hopkins. A minute’s silence was observed by thousands of people who turned out for the vigil in Manchester to remember those who died.

After the blast Several people are including Eilidh MacLeod, 14, from Barra in the Outer Hebrides, 15-year-old Olivia Campbell, Chloe Rutherford, 17, and Liam Curry, 19 are considered missing.

A man carrying a large knife and a baseball bat was detained during a Vigil in Birmingham. The vigil was interrupted until the man had been taken in custody.

Manchester Arena bombing are being considered the worst terrorist attack in the UK since the 7 July bombings in 2005. The July bombings of 2005 had took the life of 52 people, four suicide bombers had participated in the attack.

Islamic State (IS) through a IS channel on the messaging app Telegram has claimed that it was behind the Manchester attack. However this has not been verified.
