Radio 1’s Biggest Weekend, May 26th – 27th (Singleton Park, Swansea)

BBC Radio 1’s annual extravaganza makes its way to Swansea in 2018. For the last weekend of May, the city’s Singleton Park will play host to a number of artists performing in what the BBC have dubbed “the biggest single music event ever attempted”.

The hyperbole could be justified, as the two days are headlined by superstars Ed Sheeran and Taylor Swift, with performances from the likes of Craig David, Wolf Alice, Niall Horan, Rita Ora and Sam Smith.

Tickets are already sold out for this event.

Festival of Voice, June 7th – 17th (Various venues, Cardiff)

The Wales Millenium Centre’s Festival of Voice for the second seeks to celebrate unique musical talent. Featuring both local and international talent, the 11-day festival will provide gigs, one-off events and community projects located all across the capital.

The venues taking part are the Donald Gordon Theatre, St John’s Church, New Theatre, Sherman Theatre, Richard Burton Theatre, and the Wales Millenium Centre itself. Each of these venues will host shows from the lieks of Billy Bragg, Gruff Rhys, Passenger and Elvis Costello. Tickets are priced for each night, allowing attendees to pay for what they want to see.

Wireless Festival, July 6th – 8th (London)

When it comes to hip-hop, there are a few festivals as stacked as London’s Wireless Festival. Over three days, the party is bringing everyone from grime superstar Stormzy to hitmaking producer DJ Khaled to the stage, along with every bold-faced name in rap: French Montana, the Migos, J.Cole, Lil Uzi Ver and the list goes on. From emo rap to Atlanta trap, Wireless looks to have the best roundup of the genre.

Castell Roc, August 16th – 2nd September (Chepstow Castle, Chepstow)

Castell Roc, similar to Festival of Voice, is two-and-a-half week festival with twelve events to enjoy.

Situated within the walls of Chepstow Castle, the festival kicks off with “Monsters of Roc”, which sees tribute bands Letz Zep, Whitesnake UK and Women in Rock perform classic rock hits. Across the festival,there’s a mixture of blues, rock, funk and soul from the likes of Leo Sayer, Craig Charles Funk & Sould Club and King King.
