Walmart Drone Bees Will Transform US Farming Process: Are you ready to meet the army of robot bees? Walmart to keep pace with Amazon’s drone development program has filed application for building of “Drone Bees”.

Walmart Company wants US government approval on their proposal to update the process of farming. The super market giant aims to create a technology that would let drones pollinate the crops instead of bees.

Giving the details Walmart spokesperson said that through Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) they would use cameras and sensors to identify the location of crops and with an applicator tool pollen would be moved between them.

Walmart is keen to invest in artificial pollination technology after a successful research lab in Japan recently became the first to successfully achieve pollination using a drone. According to a research, pollination by bees adds $265 billion to the worldwide economy. Due to decline in the world’s bee population, robotic alternatives are vital to encounter the global demand for food production.

Robo-Bees

Robo-bees have been seen as a sign of drone insects controlled via a centralized computer system. Walmart “Drone Bees” would use eight of rotary wings with two or more rotating blades.

They will have sensors radars to detect problems and measure wind and speed with wheels and sails to allow movement on ground and wet surface.

Walmart “Do More Through Drone” Plan For Farming Processes

Walmart, the supermarket chain is focused on automating agricultural processes and also plans to use drones for pest identification, spraying pesticides and crop monitoring.

This could be beneficial for Walmart possibly by vertical integration that would save the costs and through managing crops themselves would add on transparency and sustainability to attract more buyers.

Globally researchers are making efforts to work more on this technology as proposals from Singapore and Berkley University suggest that technology can be used to perform variety of tasks.
