4 Ways To Stay Smart During Ramadan
4 Ways To Stay Smart During Ramadan: The holy month of Ramadan is a month of blessings for all of us. For a month, our whole schedule changes and it can be a bit hard to eat healthy and exercise regularly as we normally do. That said, it’s not as hard as it may seem and you can not only maintain fitness in ramadan but you can do so in a healthy way.
Here we share a few tips with you to eat smart and stay fit during Ramadan.
Suhour is your New Breakfast
The importance of starting your day with a healthy breakfast can never be undermined. During Ramadan, suhour becomes your breakfast and it is recommended that you never skip it. It not only keeps your body fueled up till the iftar time but also helps your body to stay hydrated. Make sure you opt for complex carbohydrates and protein-rich foods to stay full for a longer period of time.
Cut Down on Sugary and Processed Food Items
Ramadan is one of the best times to actually cut back on sugary and processed foods for good. Opt for a mixed fruit salad at iftar to reduce your cravings and add in a handful of nuts to keep you satiated. Opt for fresh fruit juices instead of sugary drinks.
Don’t Overindulge When You Break your Fast
One of the reasons for gaining weight during ramadan is overindulging when one breaks his/ her fast. Always break your fast with a couple of dates and water. Take a deep breath before starting your main meal. As tempting as it looks, try to avoid fried items at iftar and add in sautéed vegetables, baked chicken and complex carbohydrates. Eat slowly and give your body time to digest it all.
Make Exercise a Part of Your Routine
It is natural to feel sluggish but in order to maintain fitness in Ramadan, exercise is must! Avoid working out during your fast but once you have broken your fast, allow yourself 2-3 hours before you hit the gym. Make sure you stay hydrated during your workout.
