AvenField Reference Verdict Will Be Challenged: Expelled Premier Nawaz Sharif, his daughter Maryam Nawaz and son-in-law Capt (retd.) Safdar will challenge the Avenfield reference verdict in Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday.
According to details, Khawaja Harris has prepared appeals against the accountability court’s decision. All the three accused have signed the affidavits.
Their lawyers have said that Nawaz and Maryam will face difficulty in receiving relief if did not return to Pakistan in 10 days.
Meanwhile, Safdar is ready to surrender and is awaiting green signal from Nawaz Sharif.
His name has already been included in blacklist. The step was taken after interior ministry recommended to put names of Nawaz Sharif, Maryam Nawaz and Captain (r) Safdar on Exit Control List (ECL).
National Accountability Bureau (NAB) sources said that Safdar may flee the country however, he will be detained as soon as his arrest warrants are received.
On July 6, accountability court jailed former prime minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif, daughter Maryam Nawaz and son-in-law Captain (r) Muhammad Safdar for 10, 7 and 1 year respectively.
Announcing verdict judge, Muhammad Bashir ruled that the Avenfield apartments of the Sharif family shall be seized by the federal government.
The judge while awarding 10 years imprisonment to Nawaz Sharif also imposed an eight million pound (Rs1.2billion) fine, while a fine of two million pound (Rs322 million) has been imposed on his daughter Maryam Nawaz .
The court also issued permanent arrest warrants of ex-PM’s sons Hassan Nawaz and Hussain Nawaz.
Former prime minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif announced to return to the country as soon as his wife Kulsoom Nawaz regains consciousness.
Addressing a press conference in London, he said that time and again he was asked to leave the country and not to return to Pakistan but he never thought about himself or his daughter. It was easy for me to compromise, he added.
He urged the general public to stand up to these invisible forces involved in violating the constitution.
“The accountability court judgement doesn’t prove any charge of corruption against me,” he said and added an elected prime minister was pressurized to step down.
