‘Bala King ‘& ‘Anhi Maai da Sufna’, Ajoka theatre to perform in Islamabad
‘Bala King ‘& ‘Anhi Maai da Sufna’, Ajoka theatre to perform in Islamabad: Islamabad will witness two most acclaimed and exclusive plays of Ajoka Theatre. The plays of Ajoka Theater are scheduled to be performed on a two-day theatre event which will held in the capital city this month.
In collaboration with the Pakistan National Council of the Arts, both plays will be presented to the audience at National Art Gallery auditorium on 29th and 30th April.
Both plays are authored by Ajoka’s Shahid Nadeem. The direction team includes Madeeha Gauhar for ‘Bala King’ and veteran Indian director Usha Ganguli for ‘Anhi Mai Da Sufna’.
‘Bala King’ is inspired by a play of Eugen Berthold Friedrich which shows the rise of Adolf Hitler in Nazi Germany. Eugen was a German poet, playwright and theatre director, born in the year 1898. This play which is loose adaption, tries to trace the gangs of old Lahore and how they influenced local politics by using the money to bribe the officials and especially how they kept their aggrandize in an enviable flow.
The second play ‘Anhi Maai Da Sufna’ is an emotional elaboration of events. It is about the agonies which partition brought and how loved ones scattered in the mass exodus. The story of this play revolves around two old people who hold in their hearts immeasurable love for their homelands. This play is basically a tribute from Ajoka theatre on the 70th anniversary of Pakistan.
Previously Shahid Nadeem’s play ‘Dara Shikoh’ was performed at the memorial hall of the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, on March 2.
Talking about it Shahid Nadeem said, “Ajoka Theatre is taking Dara Shikoh’s eternal message of peace, goodwill, tolerance and religious harmony to the United States as it’s the most appropriate time to spread it across the continents.”
