Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) senior leader and former minister Sharjeel Memon appeared in Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Monday over cases of alleged involvement in corruption of Rs5.77 billion.

He appeared in court for approval of his transit bail and announced to face all the llegations and corruption cases filed against him.

Memon was briefly apprehended for questioning by the National Accountability Bureau on Saturday night immediately after his return from Dubai at Islamabad airport.

“I wasn’t arrested at the airport, I was abducted,” he had said in the press conference he held on Sunday after being released. “Why does NAB take action only against PPP? Why does it not put names of Sharif family on the Exit Control list (ECL)? Putting my name on the ECl is an extreme measure,” he remarked.

He was accompanied by four Sindh ministers, namely Taimoor Talpoor, Fiaz Bhatt, Imdad Pitafi and Mukesh Chawla when he was taken into custody by six plan-cloth personnel under the directives issued by NAB’s Crime Wing Deputy Director.
