DG IB accused of being ‘loyal to Sharifs instead of state’ by PTI: Intelligence Bureau (IB) chief Aftab Sultan was lambasted by Pakistan Tehreek e Insaaf through a statement on Wednesday for what they claimed was him being ‘loyal to Sharifs instead of the state.’
An alleged meeting between IB director general and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Nawaz Sharif in London was strongly reacted to by PTI.
The press statement released after the meeting read that “The individual who had completed his tenure was appointed on contract. The appointment of IB chief is a clear example of political bribery.”
The PTI accused Nawaz Sharif of maintaining his influence over the PML-N parliamentarians through the spymaster “The IB chief is being loyal to Sharifs, instead of the state.”
It decided to submit an adjournment motion against the top intelligence officer in the National Assembly.
In response to the allegations leveled against himself, DG IB Aftab Sultan said that he was a government servant and had always tried to stay away from the matters of politics.
“The meeting in London had been scheduled four months ago,” Sultan told a tv channel that the meeting had been scheduled over four months ago, he added that he had never done anything against the law.
