Heavy Rains In Lahore Killed Six While More Shower Is Expected Nationwide: Torrential monsoon rains have lashed many cities across Pakistan, flooding streets and killing three people.

The deaths from Tuesday’s rain were reported in the eastern city of Lahore, where residential areas flooded. It also exposed flaws in the sewer system, which flooded some of the city’s streets.

At least six people were reported killed in various incidents across the provincial capital as a relentless downpour lashed the city since Monday night.

According to Rescue 1122 officials, two people were killed as the roof of their warehouse collapsed in Gumti bazaar owing to the heavy downpour. Another person died of electrocution in China Scheme area of Gujar Pura.

Three others were also injured as the roof of their house collapsed in China Scheme locality.

Earlier, three people were reported killed due to electrocution caused by the heavy rain. Two were electrocuted to death in Rewaz Garden while a third was electrocuted at Qurtaba Chowk, in the Old City area.

The heavy rain has drowned the city after what roads, and streets have been turned into a pool portraying mismanagement of the administration.

As the rain started, it resulted in the power outage in various areas of the city.

Due to heavy rain 215 LESCO feeders were tripped in Lahore and at least five were killed in the rein-related incidents and more casualties feared.

The people have to face power outage in areas of Jallo, Harbanspura, Mughalpura, Baghbanpura and Daroghawala Berki, President, Dharmurpur, Garhi Shahho.

According to the Meteorological Department, more heavy rains are expected this month.

Every year, many cities and towns in Pakistan struggle to cope with the annual monsoon deluge, drawing criticism about poor planning.

Inclement weather has been forecast across several areas nationwide. Rain coupled with thunderstorms is expected across Hazara, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sargodha, Faisalabad divisions, Islamabad Capital Territory, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK). Similar forecasts have been made for isolated places across Malakand, Peshawar, Kohat, Bannu, DI Khan and Sahiwal divisions.

The Punjab’s premier city has received 170 millimeters rainfall over the last 24 hours, Radio Pakistan reported. Incessant rain reportedly left The Mall cratered. Construction work on the Orange Line Metro Train project is said to have been affected too.
