Horror Movie Child’ Play Is Ready To come again On Screen: Hollywood’s classic horror movie ‘Child’s play’ is ready to come again with more suspense and fear. MGM is remaking Child’s Play, the 1980s popular watched horror movie ‘Child’s Play’.
The movie was about a toy doll possessed by the soul of a serial killer, with It producers David Katzenberg and Seth Grahame-Smith.
MGM is fast-tracking the project, which has Lars Klevberg, the Norwegian filmmaker behind the horror movie Polaroid, in the director’s chair as it heads toward a production start in Vancouver this September.
Child’s Play is a story of a popular toy doll named Chucky that becomes possessed and terrorizes a single mom and her son, as the killer needs the son’s body to jump into before his transference to the doll becomes permanent. Polaroid director Klevberg is working on the remake of ‘Child’s Play’.
The new movie will be a homecoming of sorts as MGM’s United Artists was behind the original release. Others were released by Universal’s short-lived Rogue banner or by Universal Home Entertainment.
Another day, another 80’s remake.
This time, 1988 horror classic Child’s Play, which follows a killer doll and spawned a big movie franchise, is getting the redo treatment.
According to The Hollywood Reporter and Collider, MGM has fast-tracked the project, which will reportedly be a contemporary remake.
Interestingly, the studio actually made the first movie before the rights were sold to Universal, so it would be a sort of homecoming for the franchise. Polaroid’s Lars Klevberg will direct the movie, with IT’s David Katzenberg and Seth Grahame-Smith signed on to produce.
On top of that, Tyler Burton Smith (Kung Fury 2) has written the script, with Child’s Play set to begin production in September in Vancouver.
The original tells the story of doll named Chucky who becomes possessed by the spirit of a serial killer and terrifies a mother and her son.
Its huge success ended-up spawning a number of movie sequels, including Child’s Play 2, Bride of Chucky and, most recently, Cult of Chucky.
Last month, creator Don Mancini teased the possibility of Chucky coming to TV screens, posting a cryptic tweet stating: “Child’s Play the TV series – do not adjust your set”.
In short, it seems a whole load of Chucky will be slashing its way towards you in the near future. Maybe sleep with one eye open.
