Nazi machine found by Australian police in traffic stop
A World War II era machinegun has been found by the Australian police during a traffic stop 100km (60 miles) north of Sydney.
On Sunday, 18th June 2017, Officers searched a car on the Central Coast of New South Wales and found an MP40 sub-machine gun along with 60 rounds of ammunition.
The weapon had been developed in Nazi Germany, according to estimates more than a million were produced during the war.
The possessor of the weapon was a 40 year-old man, the man was a passenger in the car and he was charged with possessing a prohibited firearm.
According to the police, he was refused bail and would appear at Wyong Local Court on Monday, 19th June 2017.
A forensic examination of the firearm will be conducted in order to determine whether it can be linked to any shooting incidents.
The gun had been missing a barrel however police say that the gun was in working condition.
