New ballistic missiles successful launch confirmed by North Korea: According to the state-run KCNA news agency it was claimed that the weapon was ready to be deployed for military action.
According to a statement by the White House the tested missile had a shorter range than those used in North Korea’s last three tests. The test comes a week after North Korea had earlier tested a new type of rocket which was claimed to have the capability of carrying a large nuclear warhead. Last Monday UN Security Council had again demanded from Pyongyang not to conduct any further tests.
The UN Security Council had strained the importance of North Korea “immediately showing sincere commitment to denuclearisation through concrete action.” The Council will meet on Tuesday behind closed doors in a meeting which was requested by the US, South Korea and Japan.
On Sunday, the North Korean leader Kim Jong Un had personally witnessed the launch of Pukguksong-2 missile. The KCNA had reported that the North Korean leader had approved the deployment of this weapons system for action.
Earlier South Korean foreign minister had said that the launch was “reckless and irresponsible”. At the other hand US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson has termed it as being “disappointing” and “disturbing”.
According to the South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff last weeks, the latest missile flew about 560km towards the Sea of Japan while the previous missile had travelled 700km.
Chief Secretary of Japan Yoshihide Suga told a news conference that a protest had been lodged with North Korea.
