Pakistan Promoting Peace and Stability In The Region: Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbasi on Saturday has said that Pakistan wants peace and stability in the region.
Addressing the 109th passing-out parade of Pakistan Navy Midshipmen at Pakistan Naval Academy in Karachi, chief guest Navy admiral said that safeguarding national interests and maintaining defense sovereignty are his top most priorities.
He said establishment of regional maritime patrols has been decided which will help in controlling piracy, smuggling and terrorism in oceans.
He said Pakistan Navy is well aware emerging challenges and fully capable to effectively deal with it. Security of CPEC and Gwadar port will be ensured and task force 88 has been established in this regard, he added.
The chief stated Pakistan Navy is being strengthening on modern lines technologically.
During the ceremony, the naval band played patriotic tunes while the cadets presented guard of honor to the guests.
Admiral Abbasi distributed certificates among the passed cadets, belonging to Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Qatar.
It is to be mentioned here that Bahrain Naval Chief Commodore Mohammad Yousaf-ul-Islam and chairman of coast guards Major General Allauddin also attended the parade.
Earlier this week Royal Bahrain Naval Force Commander Commodore Muhammad Yousaf Al Asam visited Naval Headquarters Islamabad and called on Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbasi.
Upon arrival at Naval Headquarters, the Royal Bahrain Naval Force Commander was received by the Chief of Naval Staff. A smartly turned out contingent of Pakistan Navy clad in ceremonial dress presented him with Guard of Honour. The visiting dignitary was then introduced to Chiefs of Staff and Principal Staff Officers at Naval Headquarters.
Later, Commodore Muhammad Yousaf Al Asam called on Chief of the Naval Staff in his office, where discussions on professional matters and bilateral naval collaboration were held. Various avenues of cooperation between the two navies were focused. Pakistan’s commitment and performance in fight against terrorism including Pakistan Navy’s contribution towards regional maritime security were also highlighted. Commander Royal Bahrain Naval Force highly appreciated role and contributions of Pakistan Navy in maintaining peace and stability in the region.
The call was followed by a comprehensive brief given to the visiting dignitary on Pakistan Navy’s perspective on regional issues and PN contributions towards peace and stability in the maritime domain.
In the second leg of his visit, Commodore Muhammad Yousaf Al Asam is scheduled to visit Pakistan Navy Field Commands at Lahore and Karachi.
The visit of Commander Royal Bahrain Naval Force is expected to further strengthen the bilateral collaboration between the two Navies.
