Professional Footballer’s Association Player of the Year Is Given To Muhammad Salah: Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah was credited as the Premier League’s Players, Player of the Year, due to his incredible 41-goal in the first season at Liverpool thrashing out strong competition from Manchester City’s Kevin de Bruyne.
Salah’s move to the Italian capital was made permanent in 2016 and the following year he headed to Anfield, where he has plundered a remarkable 41 goals in just 46 appearances in all competitions.
City did pick up a prize from the PFA gala in central London on Sunday, though, as Leroy Sane won the Young Player of the Year.
Salah said that for him it is a big honor since he has worked hard and is very happy to win it. Salah matched a Premier League record tally for a single season by scoring his 31st league goal of the campaign in a 2-2 draw at West Brom.
To break the Premier League record is something huge in England and all over in the world. “There are still three games to go. I want to break this record.” Salah said with excitement.
Salah has also achieved 7 times in eight Champions League games, including in both legs of Liverpool’s 5-1 quarter-final thrashing of City, to carry his side to a first semi-final for a decade.
De Bruyne had been many people’s favorite for the prize due to his incredible long-range strike for his 12th goal of the season, to go with a league-high number of assists as champions City thrashed Swansea 5-0 on Sunday.
The Egypt worldwide was presented with the award at the Grosvenor Hotel in London on Sunday night after he beat Kevin de Bruyne, Harry Kane, Leroy Sane, David Silva and David de Gea who were also the nominees for the main prize.
The award was recognition of Regis’s pioneering role in changing attitudes towards black footballers in England.
