Back to class: Schools across Sindh reopen today
Most of the private and government schools across Sindh have reopened with low level of attendance as Tuesday was the first day after a two-month-long vacation.
In Saddar area of Karachi, some students looked reluctant to attend classes after staying away from school for nearly 60 days. On the other hand, others were seen joyfully jumping out of their vans, rickshaws — all of them coursing through the gates of their respective schools.
“Did not feel like getting up so early in the morning, but was excited to see my friends after a long break,” said a student outside a school in the area.
However, the weather kept the spirits high as it rained in most areas of the city early in the morning.
In Sukkur, teachers of some schools said attendance was low as students usually miss the first day of school after vacations. However, they added, the attendance will get back on track after a day or two and proper lessons will start in classes.
Those private schools that remain closed will reopen after August 14, a public holiday in the country.
Similarly, in Punjab, schools are slated to open on August 15.
The summer vacations in Sindh commenced from the first day of Ramazan due to the scorching weather, so that parents and students could be given relief from having to commute daily under the blazing sun. The authorities of all the private and government schools had unanimously agreed on schools being reopened from August 1.
