Federal Interior Minister Chaudhary Nisar Ali firmly stated on Thursday that concerned authorities will take every step to nab the blasphemers and remove blasphemous content from social media websites.
“We will take action against those involved in blasphemy and take this matter to a logical conclusion,” Nisar said while briefing reporters in Islamabad.
He added that several posts had already been removed from social media and reiterated that blasphemers were actually the enemies of humanity.
“We will take any steps necessary to make sure that our message against such content gets across to those websites as well as the rest of the world,” Nisar said.
However, he clarified that complete removal of the content deemed blasphemous was only possible by cooperation of social media platforms’ administrators.
“The content uploaded within the country can be removed as it is within reach of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and other intelligence agencies.”
