Cabinet Meeting Chaired By Caretaker PM: The Federal Cabinet has approved the Open Trial of deposed Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in the remaining two References Lodged against him by the National Accountability Bureau.

The meeting, chaired by Caretaker Prime Minister Nasirul Mulk, discussed a nine-point Agenda which also included the matter of Nawaz’s Trial within the premises of Adiala Jail.

Secretary Interior briefed the Meeting about the measures being taken and the efforts being made to Complement Provincial Governments in ensuring security and Law & Order during General Elections 2018.

The Cabinet emphasized upon the need for the Provincial Governments to ensure that the Election code of conduct and the Security Protocols are Strictly followed.

The Cabinet approved various measures, proposed by the Finance Division, to facilitate implementation of the action plan to Fulfil Country’s commitment towards anti-money laundering and countering terror-financing.

The Cabinet endorsed a proposal for contributions by the Employees of the Federal Government towards construction of Diamer Basha and Mohmand Dam. According to the proposal, two days’ Salary of officers of 17 to 22 grade and one day Salary of Officials of 1 to 16 Grade will be donated for the cause. The Cabinet members will contribute their one month’s Salary to the fund.

Addressing a News Conference after the Cabinet meeting Information Minister Syed Ali Zafar said Government has decided not to collect sales Tax on Electricity and manufacturing and Income Tax on profits in Business from the FATA and PATA Areas as Part of Implementation of tribal Areas’ merger with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Syed Ali Zafar, who heads implementation Committee on FATA’S Merger, said there will be no customs Duty on non-Duty paid Vehicles for five years after their registration.

The Minister said the Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will promulgate an ordinance within two days to settle Legal matters regarding FATA’S Merger with KP.
