Calls for investigation of Gulalai’s allegations continue

The political aftershocks following Ayesha Gulalai’s damning allegations against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan continue to gain strength.

Pakistan Peoples’ Party’s Farhatullah Babar, talking to media, said the accusations against Imran are of a serious nature and Imran’s silence over them is suspicious.

He called for the formation of a parliamentary committee to probe, in-camera if that is the case, the allegations against Imran “otherwise the stains put on him will not be washed away so easily”.

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s Barrister Zaffarullah Khan also agreed with the notion. They were both speaking in a programme.

Gulalai, an MNA of the party from South Waziristan, alleged on Tuesday that Imran had sent her inappropriate text messages. She had also alleged that the “honour of women is not safe” in the party. Following her allegations, Gulalai was sent a legal notice by her former party.

Meanwhile, the Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) has invited Gulalai to join its ranks.

JI Youth Wing FATA President Shahjahan Afridi called Gulalai and invited her to join the party.

He said JI is the only party where women are respected. JI MNA Aysha Syed also visited Gulalai’s residence and formally invited her to join them.

However, Gulalai has said that all options are open before her and she would decide on her future line of action very soon.

She also warned the women of PTI, saying beware, the honour of mothers and sisters is not safe in the party.
