Committee Formed To Look Into The Construction Faults Of New Islamabad Airport: The Supreme Court has constituted a committee comprising officials of PIA and Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) to look into the faults in the construction of new Islamabad airport.
Hearing a suo moto notice of flooding in Islamabad airport at the Supreme Court Lahore registry on Wednesday, a three-member bench of the Apex Court led by Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar rejected initial report about the faults in the construction of the new airport.
The court ordered the committee to prepare and submit its report within two weeks.
The bench ordered the concerned Committee to submit a short but comprehensive report in this regard within two weeks.
During the proceedings, the chief justice questioned the faulty construction of the airport and asked who built it. To this, the bench was apprised that Civil Aviation got it constructed.
At this, the chief justice observed that he had heard that Chaudhry Muneer was handed over the construction. “If that is not the case, then why his name is being repeatedly coming?” he remarked.
The bench expressed dissatisfaction over the report pertaining to the airport’s construction and sought a comprehensive and concise report within two weeks.
Pakistan International Airlines CEO, Civil Aviation Authority director general and other officers were also present in the court.
The Islamabad International Airport has denied “major construction faults” at the passenger terminal building recently, saying operations remained completely normal.
Dubai’s national airline Emirates is going to launch Pakistan’s first ever Airbus-A380 flights from July 10, 2018.
The first flight EK2524 will orginate from Dubai International Airport and will land at the new Islamabad International Airport on July 10.
The airline is updating its current fleet and replacing all other planes with the massive A-380.

Emirates officials told that the airline will be the first one in Pakistan to introduce this service and EK615 is scheduled to operate on A380 only.
A380 is a double-deck, wide-body, four-engine jet airliner manufactured by European manufacturer Airbus.
It is the world’s largest passenger airliner, and the airports at which it operates have upgraded facilities to accommodate it.
