CTD report says BIEK officials worked with ‘agent mafia’ in paper malpractices
An inquiry report which was prepared by the police’s Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) has revealed that during examinations private agents in collusion with officials of the Board of Intermediate Education Karachi (BIEK) were allegedly involved in cheating and other malpractices for huge financial gains.
Sources who have quoted the contents of the report have told that at the least 23 officials of the board, along with five education department officials and ‘private agent mafia’ had been involved in the “paper leaks, change of student (through fake admit card), change of examination centre of students’ choice, enhancing marks after the conclusion of the papers, organizing large-scale cheating and other malpractices relating to appearing in the examination and its passing.”
An inquiry was ordered by the Chief Minister of Sindh Murad Ali Shah, after he took notice of the cheating through WhatsApp by the students in the recently held examinations and leaking of examination papers,
Dr Sanaullah Abbasi who is the Additional IGP CTD Sindh had assigned this inquiry to the SSP Investigation CTD, Naveed Ahmed Nisar Khowaja.
Sources familiar with the story have said that the report has been submitted to the chief minister through home department recently.
