A policeman was gunned down on Friday in Peshawar when armed assailants opened fire at a police mobile.
The incident took place in Tehkal area where the patrolling mobile was targeted. Policeman Mukhtar sustained bullet injuries and later succumbed to them. The retaliatory fire by police killed one of the terrorists.
Superintendent of Police (Cantonment area) Imran told the reporters that Bumb Disposal Squad was summoned to examine the body and the area was cordoned off.
Police launched a search operation in surrounding areas to hunt down the assailants.
