Punjab is all set to observe first milk vending machine launch from the month of May under the sponsorship of Punjab government. Pakistan’s first automated dispenser unit is going to provide pure and cheap milk.

The current milk situation in the country was raising many questions, demanding public sector’s interventions to introduce new dairy businesses as model.

Saira Iftikhar, chief executive officer at Punjab Livestock and Dairy Development Board (PLDDB), said talking to Agriculture Journalists Association (AJA) that the basic idea behind introducing this automated milk dispenser unit, built locally at a cost of around Rs600,000, is to encourage dairy farmers to sell milk through this vending machine. The PLDDB official said the purity of milk would be ensured with sealed packing.

This idea of vending machine is to show dairy farmers a successful business venture for their as well as consumer’s’ benefit.

Milk Automated Dispenser

  • Around 2,000 liters of milk being produced from Sahiwal breed of cows at Khizerabad farm near Sargodha would be sold through automated dispenser unit at a market in Township area for Rs.75 per liter.
  • The healthy milk will come from local milch cattle being reared at green pastures, while seasonal feeds along with corn grass and other healthful feedstuffs that are free of any impurities or harmful substance like aflatoxin are being fed to these healthy animals.
  • This nutrient-rich whole milk was labeled as A2 type, which made it more digestible, nourishing, and healthier than other cow’s milk available in the market.
  • Milk is also free of any additives
  • Consumers can themselves see automatic packing of the milk after paying the amount

Punjab government is claiming that with 4% fats and 3.60% protein and enriched with calcium, vitamin D, phosphorous, protein and potassium and healthy fats, it is an ideal milk for all.

In the last week of the current month, this vending machine has been scheduled for the soft launch while in the first week of May, it is expected to be launched on the ground.
